PearlJam said: This is easy and no contest, Gears 2 for me. Uncharted 2 is a fun ride the first time you play, but I could never play it again without losing interest. I have played the Gears 2 campaign several times, and cop-op+Horde is just something Uncharted 2 can't touch.
Technically I think Uncharted 2 has better graphics, but I much prefer the gritty look of Gears 2 and I like the gore+blood more then the clean-cut shiny look of Uncharted 2.
You can't really compare the gameplay either. Gears is an action packed shooter, while Uncharted still doesn't know if it wants to be "Tomb Raider with a cover system" or "Kill Switch with Indiana Jones". Anyone that thinks the cover system in Uncharted is better than the one in Gears 2, just hasn't really played Gears 2 long enough.
People have made an art form out of "wallbouncing" in Gears 2, the cover-canceling and sliding is far smoother than what Uncharted 2 brings to the table.
MP is harder. Gears 2 had a broken online for a long time, while the MP in Uncharted works right. Even with all the lag and glitches I prefer Gears 2, I just find it so much more intense. If Uncharted had online issues I wouldn't touch it. Gears 2 even with all the problems I stuck with it, its' that good. |
You realize that there is a horde mode in UC2 right? the co-op stuff goes to gears 2 obviously because it has the full story co-op vs mission modes in uc2, but I doubt you've spent much time with UC2 online if you didn't even know that there is a horde mode aka arena mode.

You realize that having a couple of survival modes is not the same as Horde, right? I never even said that Uncharted 2 didn't have similar modes, I simply said it can't touch what Gears 2 did. It's not even the same, in one you focus on grabbing the golden idol as much as staying alive. I'll take 5 players over 3 any day for this kind of gametype. One of the reasons I think Horde is better is because of the different types of enemies you fight, IMHO only Halo's firefight comes close and it would be better if it had matchmaking. I woudn't compare fighting some generic goons and hired guns to a bunch of crazy looking monsters that don't all behave the same way.

it's just different skins dood, you have to fight guys shooting rocket launchers, sniping, on top of your generic goons o_O; and mini chain guns that are just as bad, and those stealth mother fuckers oh god I hate them so much hahaha. yes, that's called treasure hunt mode( which is not the same as survival, both part of arena, you can choose either one if you play with friends) with the idol thing, and you do have to try to stay alive because if you die, you can't spawn unless somebody gets the treasure to the goal, and it's fun as hell. I personally think they are about the same with gears 2 having the edge with story mode co-op, saying something like can't be touched is simple ridiculous.

You might think it's ridiculous, but I disagree. The most played gametype for Gears 2 online is Horde. According to Epic about half of the people playing Gears 2 online are playing Horde, with Execution and Warzone being the 2nd and 3rd respectively (Execution was the most popular in Gears 1). Unless Arena mode is just as popular I doubt you even have an argument here. I do like Arena but I much prefer Horde, quite frankly I like these survival games more than regular MP for most of the games that offer them.
My point is that in Uncharted 2 and other games where the enemies are just human, it just isn't as fun or as interesting as games that have different creatures that are completely different from each other. At the end of the day you are still just fighting the same guys with different skins and different guns. There isn't anything in Uncharted's Arena mode that compares to fighting Maulers and Bloodmounts when you're trapped in a small corner.
