Most of the people in "developing countries" are probably pirating rather than buying PS2 games though, which explains why PS2 software sales keep falling so precipitously in Sony financials.
If the hardware is profitable though, which PS2 is at least in the west, greatly so, game piracy doesnt hurt as much.
