More like I ignored the majority of your post because they are subjective opinions. Sorry to break it to you, but those just don't cut it. [not just my opinion, the games really have technical problems with the gameplay] Sure, the iPhone OS will not have many food fighting games [will not have many good fighting games? The Iphone OS won't have at least ONE good fighting game because it's impossible thanks to the lack of physical controls. How can you make "C" or simple moves like "shoryuken" without physical buttons?], and other games that support the control style [so it's limited to some genres, which is a big problem]. But deva just have to work around that niche genre. Some genres will and some don't, just like the other portables. [The PSP and the DS has every popular genre to satisfy any taste]

And console DD services still have no place in this arguement. Seriously, I don't remember Sony and nintendo releasing their bite sized game services well until after iPhone launched. [if they ALREADY worked with Digital Distribution before, why wouldn't they implement it in their handhelds? Also:

-The PSOne Classics was launched on May 3, 2007 for the PSP and the App Store opened on 2008. I think you know what the "PSOne Classics" has to offer, right? Digital Distribution.

-The PSN was launched on 2008 for the PSP (same year of the App Store), so there is no way they could have time to build something based on what the Iphone has, they simply based it on what they had for the PS3

-The DSi was launched on 2008 (same year of the App Store), so there is no way they could have time to build a portable with cameras based on what the Iphone has and launch it in the same year.]

.And..... Wait a sec..... Last I checked both the psp and ds didn't have many good fps's [The DS has: 3 great and normal COD games with good gameplay, Dementium 1 and 2, Moon and Metroid Prime Hunters. The PSP has a decent COD game with good controls and 2 decent Medal Of Honor games. The Iphone has nothing good with good gameplay to offer in this genre thanks to the lack of physical controls] .... And the ds had very few fighting games... [The DS has 2 great Bleach games (with good gameplay, specials etc), a Guilty Gear game, Ultimate Mortal Kombat (which is a remake, but with extras and wifi, it's like the definitive version of the game), Custom Robo Arena (which is a great game, you will customize your own robo and you can fight against your friends via wifi), Jump Ultimate Stars (for fans of animes because it has 300 characters of 40 anime/manga). And again, the Iphone has nothing good to offer in this genre] Does that mean they suck as a game device? [This means that you need more time with your handhelds and maybe some research] No.
Like I said before, I'm not even saying the device is perfect for anything. The no buttons thing really does hurt. Like I said though, when people already have the device in their pockets as a phone or multimedia device, it's not so hard to see traditional portables threatened. Convienience. Convienience. [So... here the gaming experience is the second option for these people and the "phone"/"multimedia device" aspects comes first. If you really want to play games on the go and this aspect is your first option, you will choose a traditional handheld because they have any genre and big first party support with known games and franchises]

Obviously other companies are seeing the potential, or else we wouldn't have these little iPhone bash fests everytime a thread like this comes out. [I am not bashing the Iphone, I think it's a incredible device. Don't be so defensive just because you like your device. I am giving you arguments and if you can't deal with it, just forget about this discussion] In the end, the normal consumer might care if his favorite type of game doesn't work as well as he'd hope, but it's not like all of those people will go buy another portable device solely devoted to games.
Portables aren't going anywhere though. But make no mistake, some people will choose iPhone as a source of gaming. [Yeah, if you want simple games, no diversity, lack of some popular genres and no physical buttons, you will probably go to the Iphone. If you want a true gaming experience with any kind of genre you will choose a traditional handheld]
