Dragon Age also didn't remove fundamental role-playing elements, like towns and exploration, because they got in the way of the developer's 'genius' narrative. It has its flaws, and I agree it doesn't deserve that metacritic score (but most hyped games don't, but that's for another discussion), but XIII just has far too many, even for a JRPG -- a genre that refuses to evolve.
Is it so hard to accept that maybe, just maybe, FFXIII isn't as good as fans hope?
