Does Mass Effect bring RPG's back from nowhere land?

RPG's are doing just fine, but now they assume a different form called MMORPG's. As far as single player console RPG's are concerned, I'm pretty sure I've heard quite a clamor over Demon's Souls for the last 4 months, but if you want to pin it all on ME2, knock yourself out.
