Yeah us Canadians really do get hosed gaming price wise. GameStop USA has it for $20 US. But Gamestop.ca doesn't have it listed anymore. Try ebay.ca. I remember when I bought Infinite Undiscovery and Fable II, the games were close to full price in Canada but cheaper in the US so I bought from some Americans on ebay. No import duties. And yet Canadian economic nationalists want to make us feel guilty for importing American? Hey, if Canadian-located retailers like Futureshop, Best Buy Canada, Amazon.ca and Gamestop.ca want to be successful, they need to give us the same kind of deals the Americans get. If not, screw you guys, I'm gonna keep importing from Amerricuh! Fuck yeah!
Like I said, look around ebay.ca. They're not selling it at sub-$20 but you can still get a better deal. Not just used but with brand new sealed copies. It's amazing how many gamers are selling brand new sealed games on ebay. That's what happens when gamers buy way too many games and don't have the time to play them. lol.
Honestly, for budget gaming, I personally prefer a rental subscription. It's not for everybody though. I don't return to my old games all that often (for the most part, just for achievements really. lol) and I prefer being able to play a lot of games to playing fewer gamers with a much heavier time investment made for each. For gamers that enjoy gunning for 1000/1000 or they like to play online a lot, renting doesn't make much sense for them but for me, I find going for 1000/1000 to be tedious for most games (defeating the purpose of playing videogames for me: to have fun) and I find that I'm not the type to want to play a game online on a regular, on going basis (like Halo 3 and Modern Warfare players do). It has it's fun and then it wears off for me after awhile. It depends on the person. Some people like to eat McDonalds every day for eg. whereas with me I'll get sick of a certain type of food if I eat the same thing for too long.

Like I mentioned earlier, I find futureshop usually has good deals. Oblivion, bioshock and AC for 40 bucks. and then I picked up MGS4 and Dead space for 40 bucks. At one point staples was getting rid of all there stock round new years and i picked up infamous for 17 bucks plus tax. If I remember correctly, bestbuy.ca is having a 10$ slae for bioshock now that part 2 is coming out. and all their sites ship for free is you spend over 39$. I find with the price exchange and all. were getting better prices than down in the states. maybe not as many deals, but better prices. Anyway if you look around. you'll find the deals. I find if there's a store that doesn't lower prices of older games (in montreal at least) its ebgames

Yeah it's not always bad for Canadian retailers. Though it does seem that Canadian retailers often times lag behind when it comes to price cuts. Valkyria Chronicles is $20 at GameStop in the US. You can't find that price in Canada for it. And like I said, Infinite Undiscovery, Fable II and many other games have taken a lot longer to drop in price in Canada than they have in the US. I remember when IU was on sale for $10 in the US (and the regular price was like $20-ish) and it was still $50 in Canada. I was like wtf was up with that? I settled for getting it off ebay for $20 instead.
And in Canada, Canadian retailers still charge up to $70 for games even though games are $60 US max in the US (The Canadian dollar is pretty strong these days. $70 Canadian is over $65 US) Add in sales tax (Canadians try to justify the high sales tax by saying we are a socialist country that needs safety nets. But ironically, high sales tax hurts the very people it's supposed to help. Because sales tax is a regressive tax, not a progressive tax like income tax), and you're paying almost $80 for a brand new game in Canada.
