amp316 said: Today is a horrible day in the history of cinema. Today is the U.S. debut of From Paris With Love. It features a fat, foul mouthed, potato headed, hoop earring wearing, and goateed John Travolta running around with an uzi in each hand pretending that he's an action hero. Well, I guess it's better than him pretending that he's an actor. A bunch of explosions look to hide the fact that he hasn't appeared in anything worth mentioning since Pulp Fiction. The worst thing of all about this movie though is that it rips off one of the greatest titles of all time. That title is From Russia, With Love. For those of you who don't know; From Russia, With Love is the name of the fantastic Ian Fleming novel featuring James Bond and also happens to be the name of one of the top Bond movies ever made. Mr. Fleming must be rolling in his grave. I repeat- John Travolta is not James Bond!!! |
Completely agree.
Disagree:
Travolta is not only a great actor (at least, if he wants - he seems lazy to me), he also was in 4 very good post-Pulp Fiction movies imo:
Get Shorty
Face/Off
The Thin Red Line
Primary Colors
(plus maybe Mad City, which was not nearly as good as I had expected though)
I've never heard about From Paris With Love before. A quick research revealed that it was written/produced by Luc Besson. In my opinion Besson wrote/directed one great. one very good and two good movies in the 80s and 90s, but I didn't like any of his post-1997 works I watched.
