There are plenty of people who set their browser home's to a game page or use the refresh key (F5) to artificially boost the numbers. A few months back, some ten year old nintendo game got like 10k hits in one day, and the same entity boosted a bunch of wii exclusive games to the top 10 and continued doing it for days.
