g-value said: @ MontanaHatchet Again, I did not build that list based of your or even my own personal opinion. And to say something like "maybe jrpgs fans are lowering their standards" is a somewhat disrespect statement. You are basically down talking people's opinions. But whatever, in the end, your going to think what you wanna think no matter what so I don't care. |
Yeah, you just based your list off of user reception from what are likely forum members and other made up people. So unless you surveyed 400,000 people who bought Valkyria Chronicles (or whatever 50% of its total sales is), you can't really say it got positive user reception. This is the problem with basing a game's quality off of user reception; it's often just anecdotal and based off of an incredibly small sample size. With such a method, my one opinion matters just as much as Billy, Bob, and Santa Claus. And I'm just speaking hypothetically with that statement, but it's perfectly possible (and probably true). Let's admit it: This generation was below average for JRPGs. We were practically knocked on our butts in the last 3 generations with great JRPGs (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Star Ocean, Tales, Chrono Trigger, etc.). Of course, we've seen many games from these series this generation, but they're generally not considered as good as their predecessors (whether we're going by review scores or random user reception that I just made up).
And thanks for the cop-out ending.
