To me, this is dual console platform.
I always think of "multi-" as being more than two. And almost all the definitions from Dictionary.com back up my opinion.
a combining form meaning “many,” “much,” “multiple,” “many times,” “more than one,” “more than two,” “composed of many like parts,” “in many respects,” used in the formation of compound words.
Back to the subject, there seems to be a lot of this going on. Basically, if it can be done for very little added development cost, it makes a lot of sense to expand the possible audience from almost every game.
