Multiplatform means the design takes the varied systems into account, at least if the games are roughly the same version. Ports are taking a game made without that system in mind and trying to make it fit.
Imagine if Dead Rising had been made for the 360 and the Wii at the same time. The design sure as hell would have taken both systems into account.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
