It's a shipped number, i can't believe these threads still come up every time financial reports come out with people claiming they are sold to customers, even posters that have been here for a long time. I will agree with people in here who are saying that it's hard to believe there are that many PS3s on shelves. To the contrary there have been shortages. I find it really hard to believe there are more than 2 million on shelves, even that may be pushing it.

However no documented shortages by Sony or any game news Ive seen. So obviously it was just normal here and there out of stocks. Like the 360 would have also had.

Ok. Sorry with all due respect to VGChartz. Hell no.

When the Wii is shortaged it's headline news. Certainly where gaming sites are concerned. Also Sony have never made such a claim at all.

Remeber VGChartz overtracked EU PS3 sales by nearly 700,000. So more than likely at the time PS3 nearly hit 1 mill, it was probably less due to EU overtracking at the time. So no it didnt hit 1 mill because it didnt sell that many.

There are 2 million PS3's on shelves. There was no out of the ordinary out of stocks. Figures are figures. Even Sony have said they sold through 31 million to consumers in an interview last week.
