Most of these categories just come down to opinion, but I'd argue that their "laying the foundation" selection is factually wrong. The earliest JRPGs were entirely based on WRPGs (known as CRPGs back then). Without the early CRPGs like Wizardry and Ultima, JRPGs wouldn't exist.

On the other hand, WRPGs have evolved almost entirely on their own. A few minor influences can be seen in some games - Mass Effect's party system, for example. However, such influences are the exception - and many modern WRPGs show no JRPG influences at all.
