These games are very different; but for anyone who is fortunate enough to play both from beginning to end, I think it is not only possible, but likely, to prefer one over the other, differences not withstanding.

That being said, I wonder if the vitriol in this thread is honestly aimed at the author for calling people "fanboys", OR for taking the stance that Mass Effect 2 is the better game...

Regardless, this has, at the very least, been a very entertaining thread!

I think some have really argued against the presence of that author's aura in general. Some genuinely have nothing against his opinion though. It was his 'absolute' take on the feelings of his readers.

I mean, I can see why Mass Effect 2 could be favored over Uncharted 2. Does that mean that people who feel one way or the other are 'biased-fanboys', no of course not.

I agree with you on both counts here: 1) not everyone who disagrees with the author, did so just because it was anti-uncharted and 2) disagreeing with the author does not make anyone a fanboy.

For my part, I think the article in question was addressed to a specific group of people (those who were storming the IGN boards with angst over the differences in scores) and that it was them, who the author refered to as fanboys...not anyone who personally thought Uncharted 2 was better than ME2.  But that was my take on the article, I can see why others might take it different.

He directly references those people who attack IGN's score so it's not a stretch to think the writer was referring to those people as "fanboys", in fact it's kind of implied.

Congratulations on having superior reading comprehension.

A little harsh, no?

Not really. I was able to subtly insult roughly half of this thread in one fell swoop. I consider that efficiency, not harshness. Several people here seem to have read one line of the article and then based an opinion from that. It wasn't aimed at you, BTW.
