f you didn't care about it why did you reply to it? I'm actually trying to see if anybody can tell me what the redeeming values of this series are that may interest me in it, right now...I don't care about god of war so convert me, if you will.

You don't like the gameplay, you don't like the story, you don't like the characters... What's there left to say? Few people like all games. It's just the way things are...

My suggestion is this, if something doesn't strike your fancy simply avoid it. But if you have further intrest in a game, play it. That'll do far more than me trying to explain why it's awesome.

Well I'm sure there's a Wiki somewhere for me to read, the gameplay is fine I just said it looked like it had been done before (dmc) i dont know anything about the story (i'll find a wiki and read it) and i dont care for the character design, so really i'm basing my disinterest in the character design which I feel may not be giving the game its fair due. Basically when the first god of war came out I was like "oh look, the character is bald and uninteresting to me, i'm gonna go back to playing DMC3"

But I don't know, there has to be a reason for the hype as there generally is, I may be wrong.

If you don't like the game, don't play it. If you do however play it, then play it with an open mind otherwise you will obviously hate the game...

What are your tastes,though?

Varies, either it strikes my interest on first sight or it doesn't really...

Since you seem to somehow be drawn back to this thread despite a decent amount of scepticism I'll try to help you in your decision making. And contrary to the tone of your initial posts (which I thought were borderline ban worthy) you do seem to be willing to give the game fair consideration. So you deserve fair consideration too.

When GoW first came out I just thought it looked like a generic, button mashing, mess with a bucket load of blood thrown in for cheap thrills. I even played it for about 5 minutes and thought "yep, first impressions confirmed". My brother was a HUUUGE GoW fan he played through GoW I and II multiple times, and did those challenges too. Eventually when I was up visiting him last year (well actually visiting my dad who had terminal cancer, RIP) my brother ended up convincing me to play through GoW I in the evenings as a way to take my mind off things for a few hours. I never got to play GoW II because I gave my PS2 away and, well, I can't get it for PS3, yet.

To give you some idea of the effect that single play through had on my opinion of the game I'll say this: I refuse to pay the launch price for a game. I've NEVER broken this rule, never. I loved Uncharted (I only have 1 platinum trophy, this game is it and I won't be going to the hassle of getting another for any game) I bought it after it went platinum. I'm hanging out to play Uncharted 2, but I'm waiting for it to go platinum too, at least I'm hoping to hold out that long, if it drops in price before going platinum I might succumb early. Valkyria Chronicles is my game of the generation so far, but the next VC to come to PS3 (please let it be so) won't cause me to break my rule. The Legacy of Kain series is hands down my favourite game story of all time, it's better by far than the GoW story, I never bought any of the games at full price. I don't pay launch price for PC games either.

But I'm seriously considering buying GoW III on day 1, I even toyed with the idea of getting the ultimate collection. I'm trying to resist paying full price for the game, I really don't want to break my rule, because once broken it's a slipperly slope to succumbing to day 1 purchases again and again and again. GoW was all around excellent enough for me to consider breaking a rule that has lasted my entire adult life (which I'd wager has been longer than the current lifespan of half the people on this site) for GoW III. If I manage to hold off buying it at launch price, I'll be buying it the minute I see it at a sub $100 price (PS3 games debut here between $105 and $125, which is overpriced compared to the major gaming markets).

If you have any interest in the Hack'n'Slash genre then you really should give the GoW games at least 2 hours of your time. If you're not into it by then, well at least you can say you gave it a decent chance. And even if you don't like it, it won't be the biggest waste of 2 hours in your life.

The price of the collection came down! You CAN NOT i repeat CAN NOT play gow3 without playing gow2. It would be a sin. Also, stop being so cheap :P

I'm not talking the GoW collection that you can buy in America. Actually I mis-wrote, should have said the ultimate trilogy, which is all 3 games and other goodies. Also I did "cheat" and watch all the GoW2 cutscenes so I'm up with the story. Not as good as having played through the game of course.

I can't help being cheap, it's just how I am.
