"There isn't much revelatory in there, but I found one thing amusing... he kept bringing up a figure of 31m for PS3's install base. Something about that doesn't quite add up...if PS3's 'shipped to retail' number is now 31m, that means Sony shipped LESS the Q4 just gone than they did the previous Q4. But he mentions that 11m of that is in the US, which lines up with NPD's LTD number for PS3 at the end of 09. So I was thinking...maybe this is their sold-to-consumer number. And THEN I realised...this is exactly the same as VGChartzzzzz number for PS3 WW Hmmm...Mr Dille...surely not using ioi for your numbers...?"

is the theory of someone on Neogaf. I'm surprised they let us even be mentioned, I thought we were that taboo over there.

or maybe just just maybe.. sony have always had consumer sales, and LIKE THEY SAID they did.  except everyone spins it saying "its sony to retailer sales"

so who knows..

anyhow, saying the 360 won't last for 10 years is very conceited of them to say.. but surely microsoft has never had a 10 year or 5 year console, so maybe they just expect that once more..

This gen will last longer than any generation before it..

I agree with you on the 10 year thing.  Though, I don't know, I kinda can see it his way.  I mean if things lined up just right.  Just for argument's sake, let's say Natal is only a small success or it ultimately fails.  Then if in a few years PS3 does take over the #2 slot (keep in mind at this point in time Blu-ray will most likely being getting a larger marketshare than DVD), I could see MS unleashing its next system.  Either to keep up with the changing market/tech or just to make Sony's accomplishment look very miniscule.  Whatever happens and whatever they do, I just hope they don't leave the 360 behind completely justt so they can focus on the X-Box 3, 720, or whatever they're calling it.  That would suck for gamers.
