No, the million figure for Hokuto came from shocked retailers (and breaks down to 800k PS3, 200k 360).  Gundam's million was an actual projection they put out publicly.  The PR "joke" was that it should really be 2 million (1 million for Gundam, 1 million for Musou).  Given all that, I wouldn't be surprised if Koei had expected like 500k for SM3.

EOE is from an already successful RPG dev (tri-Ace) and one of Japan's top 5 publishers (Sega).  If you want a PS3 game more comparable to ARF, then you should follow something like the upcoming Last Rebellion.  Let's see how it sells compared to ARF...

Retailers (and Sinobi) already blamed Graces' "bombing" on FFXIII, so I'm not going to argue that.  Unless you think you know better?

edit: and lol, I missed your DQIX nonsense.  The single save slot was to encourage people to buy their own copies, not multiple copies. Pricepoint argument seems reaching, it's equivalent to $65.  And DQIX still isn't even done selling (doing a solid 5k-ish weekly), plus with the budget version it'll probably crack 4.5m and may even rise to Wada's 5m dream.

I believe in the President of enterbrain, who is an accredited analyst there, but perhaps I should believe in some ramdom internet guy's who pray every night to holy Nintendo? ARF is a good and polished game, unlike LR, and I actually know people who were forced to buy a second copy for there second playtrough, so who are you trying to fool? You just have to look in some Japanese forums to know more about it. The game was also less expensive than DQVIII.

Let's look at some predictions form Enterbrain.

The result will be that the PlayStation 3 sells at about half the rate of the PlayStation 2, and many gamers wait until the end of 2007 to purchase it, when Hamamura predicts a price cut and a new "Final Fantasy" game to attract more buyers. He expects the PlayStation 3 to rack up total sales of between 9 million and 10 million consoles by 2010(note: in Japan), he said.
