Or zoophilia, or OCD, or claustrophobia, Asperger syndrome. The thing with psychological diseases is, that they are quite subjective. You can't just measure brain activity, or something like that, and declare that "you have a psychological illness", or "yours is just a variation of normal behavior". What one would call a disease, others would call an unique personality trait. The golden rule is, that as long as something is considered weird and abnormal by normal people, it is an illness. Currently, homosexuality's acceptance is heavily debated, (it is supported by a slight majority in the USA, and a minority worldwide), but bringing up the American Psychiatric Society's classification is kinda like bringing up metascores to prove a game's quality. It is a well-educated representation of a popular opinion, but hardly an objective and undeniable truth.

All psychological diseases are based on a GAF (or Global assessment of Functioning) scale. This 0-100 scale is an indication of how well a person would function in the outside world with others. In perspective:
91–100 Superior functioning in a wide range of activities, life's problems never seem to get out of hand, is sought out by others because of his or her many qualities. No symptoms. (In our terms, the person here is cured!)51–60 Moderate symptoms OR any moderate difficulty in social, occupational, or school functioning. (This is generally the scale most depressed patients have when coming in for psychiatric evaluation. Mind you, depressed patients cannot function in school, are too tired and don't find a point in being with other people.)1–10:
Persistent danger of severely hurting self or others OR persistent inability to maintain minimum personal hygiene OR serious suicidal act with clear expectation of death.
Clearly, homosexuals can function extremely well in everyday society so in a psychological sense it is certainly not a disease.
