oldschoolfool, you speak as though there is no country but America on this planet.

Zucas, I salute you. I have thought this myself many times, not just in the wake of the Haitian earthquake.
its a sad, sorry state of affairs but people in general are too selfish to see beyond themselves, their own nation or even landmass.

the whole world is bloody crazy right now. i wish i could just float about in space for a while.

I live in America. I can't speak for Europe are any other country. I'm just saying because America is one of the richest countries in the world, why should America help every country that's poor and barely staying afloat. Don't get me wrong it's good to help people, but you can't save are help everybody that's out there. that would bankrupt America into the ground. That goes for trying to help people in general. It's good to give to charity, but why should I give all my money to help people out. you can't save the world. Most people aren't selfish, there just cynical. With all the corruption and crime in the world,It hard to know who are what to trust. It's also hard to know what's a scam and what's legitimate. That's why I never buy anything over the internet. So I respectfuly disagree with you assertion that people are selfish.

i apprecaite all of your comments, and agree with you on a lot of them. my whole post wasn't aimed at you, just that one wee comment, that's why i didn't quote you

i wasn't saying individuals are selfish, i was talking about countries etc. There are statistically too many people on this planet, and a hell of a lot of them are dying off because of several inequalities.

Money doesn't save people, resources save people. There's this massive fake economy world-wide with people throwing money about as though its the be-all and end-all. Your $20 is gonna mean jack-shit to the African family who have infertile land and no crops, and I understand that yes, but that $20 will enable the family to buy seeds and tools and fertiliser but on a larger, like, planetary scale, if lack of money is the root of all these problems then why can't we just do away with money altogether? Civilisation survived well enough without it until about 2600 years ago.

(this isn't a rant at you, oldschoolfool, just a rant in general about the evils of money).
