Actually yes it is. I had about 20 Gears 2 players in my FL that were ALWAYS playing Gears 2. Since MW2 came out they are now ALWAYS on MW2. I check some of my friends' FL and I see the same thing, tons of former Gears 2 players now playing MW2. It's also why Gears 2 dropped from the top 10 most played games on XBL as soon as MW2 came out. It's been creeping back up but it's still near the bottom.

I've actually noticed that a lot of the people that played Gears 1 didn't move onto Gears 2, many still play Gears1 and some just don't play anymore.

 

Edit: I just checked Major Nelson and Gears 2 is gone again, I guess people can only take so much BS. Either that or they got bored with the shotty/melee antics.
