Oh god dammit Cloud is not emo, did you ever think that he had a debilitiating terminal illness in Advent Children that just might make him "less than chipper?"
I really don't think any fictional character can be called Emo, Cloud lived a hard life if you payed attention to FF7 at all, and he overcame all of his emotional baggage at the end of the game...then...he gets deathly sick.
The fact that he was seeing Aeris and having weird visions was proof that he was close to Death's Door.
