What popular games and franchises stump you as to why they are popular?

Shit to you, yes. Since you're so niche you're off the scale, your opinion of what is quality has absolutely no relationship with what other people might find appealing.

Anyone who has played FPSes even 3 years before Halo will be able to tell you Halo is a pile of shit. It's a strange phenomenon. As I said, I don't balme other people for buying it, I blame them for being ignorant of the fact that there were far better games and claimed Halo was amazing without knowing anything about FPSes.

I played FPS on PCs for years, and I understand why it works.  It fits the console controller and is accessible. They story is good enough also.  Flat out, Halo works, irregardless if you think it is garbage (or PoS).
