The thought of war does not attract me 1 bit. But boosting myself in the air and firing a spartan laser on a flying banshee is just pure fun. In COD and BF games I find that people just play like pussies...snipe from far, hide behind walls, crouch. There is nothing wrong with that...but I find that boring and just don't have the patience to play like that myself. No wonder screen watching is such a big issue when people play COD in the same room...lol. Cause if you look at their screen and see where they are, their whole strategy is useless. In Halo for example I don't care if you know where I am...I am on the fuckin' attack so find me and come get some if you got balls! :) |
Well I see our big difference =D
I like limitations. I like it when I can't do something reckless in Total War, and how it emphasizes being careful and cautious. Never letting your flanks unguarded, constantly shifting and changing. I mean, Chess isn't exciting (not to me), but even though it's not as action packed visually, it is strategicly. There are, as Code Geass said "invisible attacks".
In Bad Company, you can't just run out in the wide open. Full Spectrum Warrior emphasizes this. You need to go from cover to cover.
But the AMAZING FUCKING THING, Bad Company 1 and 2 does, is add destructible environments.
So let's recap. In these tactical games, COVER, is the most important thing you need to keep aware of.
However, what happens when you give the option to destroy such cover? You have to actively move around and adjust strategy, rather than being passive and repetitive.
Add to that vehicles, and big maps. You get both a tactical AND an action packed game. Take a look at the footage, or play the game yourself. You're not just passively camping, but you also can't just run around like a chicken without a head.
