All this means is that vgchartz is open about it's limitations. It's a small tracking service, the size of the samples they use (and the huge population of sold video games) leave a potential for error. The other trackers have more resources available to them, and thus have less potential for error, but they make mistakes sometimes too. VGChartz is open and honest about this, so they make adjustments when they find themselves to have been innaccurate. As long as people understand that vgchartz is a more limited tracker than the others, there shouldn't be a problem. The numbers are still correct most of the time, and as such are useful and interesting enough. It has the advantage however of being free and transparent compared to the others. |
now there's something, as per ioi, adjustments were done to previous estimates up to 3-4 years back. now, if that is the case, wouldn't it mean that vgc's numbers have been way off all this time for the adjuted countries/region?
if i understood correctly, not all countries in EU were adjusted, just a some countries etc. so from there, we can say vgc is very close to what actual sales is to some countries and regions but suck at others. i'm guessing there aren't a lot of source data from these countries/locations, hence the inacurate estimates.
