Good for you man! You'd be surprised to know how many people have real addictions to MMO's. They should really start doing research on the effects they have on people.

Yeah and does GTA turn people into murderers?

I don't get your point...

All I'm saying is that some people are really addicted to MMO's, what does GTA and murderers have to do with it?

Perhaps you don't know the definition of addiction?

What you said sounded kinda sounded like something that Jack Thompson would say. "These MMOs are causing addictions" similar to his comments on GTA causing violent behavior.

Addiction is more to do with the person having an addictive personality. MMOs are a catalyst. They are fun and time consuming and someone with an addictive personality could easily become addicted to playing the game. But for most people (like me) that is not the case. People could become addicted to video games in general.

I never said that MMO's are the cause of the addictions. I said: "You'd be surprised to know how many people have real addictions to MMO's". The addictive personality that you refer to has to be triggered by something. For example, a person that never smoked can easily trigger the addiction to cigarettes after trying it a few times. I agree that for most people it's not the case, but I believe that it's much easier to get hooked to an MMO rather than a console game. But that is just my opinion, I would be interested as a gamer to read a study paper on the subjet if you know any.

At some point, something must have come from nothing...
