Sony is a very diverse consumer electronics company, I think the PS3 helped them considerably to advance home consumer electronics market (such as also making Blu-Ray a solid movie format).

Ok so then if the PS3 is successful the 360 must be too.  Especially considering it survived one of the worst nightmares ever to hit a console, and not only survived, but thrived enough to stay ahead of the PS3.

Also, I'm so glad you won't be able to use that stupid "outpacing PS1" argument anymore after this year (because the PS3 won't be selling 20 million like the PS1 did).  Its so misleading since the entire first year and a half of PS1 was just Japan sales while the PS3 was available in both the US and Japan from day one and only 5 months late in Europe.
