I agree, Nintendo never went anywhere. People just thought they weren't doing anything because they didn't see a new Zelda/Mario/Pikmin/Star Fox game for 6 months.

Frankly, as much as I'm all for them trying to encourage third parties to work on the Wii/DS, it also scares me as this is what made the GC fail. Focusing all their attention on pampering third parties and trying to ween them to their side, but ultimately they never cared and left Nintendo high and dry. All the while, Nintendo's internal projects like Star Fox/F-Zero/Pokemon/etc suffered. It doesn't seem like this is happening on the Wii, and 2010 seems to be quite the opposite with a monster line-up from Nintendo itself, but hopefully this won't be the scenario for 2011, 2012, etc.

Hopefully Xenoblade and The Last Story turn out good (and Nintendo actually funds their marketing) to a point that they help the third party perception on Wii.
