I think Sony don't have 5 Billion dollars spare cash around to throw around next generation, does that mean you think they have?  Where did I say the 360 recovered Xbox losses, if you're going to attempt to debate seriously at least read my post.  I quite clearly stated that the original Xbox losses were written off by the company a long time ago, they don't need to make that money back.  Argue what I say not what you think I'm saying would be a good start if you want to continue. 

Sony probably wouldn't ever be allowed to go bankrupt by the Japanese government I would add, but their shareholders will not accept the gaming division losing money hand over fist forever.  In that regard if Microsoft have contributed to Sony's fall from grace then the 360 has indeed been very successful, that after all was one of their aims when joining the console race wasn't it (according to most rumours).  I don't know the actual figure by the way that would sink Sony, it will be a lot given their assets, perhaps you can find out if you're bothered.

 

Finally I pulled the 5 billion number for Sony out of my ass as I didn't bother checking how much they've lost on PS3 this gen although it's probably not far off being right.

you said 6 billion from original Xbox are written off long ago. 360 wasnt profitable until 2008 and Zune was a disaster, so how exactly are Xbox's losses written off? You might say Windows patched Xbox's losses but we are talking about EDD only here.

Also, this gen is not over and PS3 has big chances to outsell 360. By outselling 360 50k per week its gonna take PS3 1 year to outsell 360. Also, 360 is not VERY succesfull. PS2 is very successful, Wii is very successful, DS is very succesful, PS1 is very succesful but not 360
