Well, if Sakaguchi's smart, he'll make TLS something of a throwback to the 16bit FFs in terms of mood and themes (similar to FFIX). That's a sizable fanbase that's pretty much unserved by modern FF, so there could be a good opening to draw people in given Sagakuchi's reputation and Nintendo's marketing muscle.
