WOW, IF your weren't so biased then maybe you could see that all the money they lost is coming back very fast. IF your logic is true then ps3 is crashing in flames, which it is not.
The exclusive money spent on games is made back from the sales . rrod is fixed and atleast it shows that they are willing to stick by there product, ps2 never got fixed and the warranty was never extended and how many broke. I went through 3..
I think they are doing great and if natal goes well we will see wii type sales.
reasons for success
xbox live
exclusives stollen from sony
extension of warranty
fixing rrod
exclusive games, halo, gears, mass effect, fable, left 4 dead
extra downloadable content.
1 year head start
FUTURE SUCCESS
NATAL will grab all wii fans looking for a new experience. getting japanese developers hyped about a way to push the japanese market

Money is coming back but its not coming back ''fast''. Its gonna take a while to patch all Xbox 1 's losses ( 6 billion ). I am not gonna argue about PS3 since this thread is not about it. RROD is not far from fixed. Reduced? Yes. Fixed? No. And dont try to compare 360's failure rate with PS2's failure rate. Sony fixed PS2 disc reading error within a year while we can still se people getting RROD 5 yrars after 360's launch.
Now you reasons for succses.
Xbox Live - YES
exclusives stolen from Sony - YES
extension of warranty- NO
fixing RROD- its not fixed yet.
exclusive games- YES
Extra DLC- NO (50 million paid to Rockstar games for GTA IV DLC, and there are rumors it might come to PS3)
1 year headstart-obviously YES, its the only reason why its still ahead of PS3

That 6 billion loss on Xbox 1 was written off long ago, it has no bearing now at all. Microsoft have enough money in their banks to fund further assaults on the console market. The difference with a company like Sony is they're practically bankrupt and cannot afford to keep losing money posting losses. The long term outlook for both companies is Microsoft can decide whether they want to launch a console next gen, Sony on the other hand will need to justify they can turn a profit next time to their shareholders as another 5 billion lost would near enough sink the company.
The PS2 laser issues were never sorted, that's just denial. I work with a colleague who spent most of last generation calibrating and repairing PS2 lasers, they were terribly unreliable even in the slim revisions. RROD will never vanish completely on the 360 because its a reporting mechanism for all faults, its impossible to have 100% reliability on a console. I've repaired over 30 Jaspers now and close to 50 probably and never seen a RROD, they're a vast improvement, thats fact. If you want to argue about 360's being unreliable now then I'd start on the Liteon DVD drives with their crap lasers, seems they really do want to copy Sony's PS2 model this gen after all.
