I mean do you people not realize that can be said about every freaking game and yet still game sequels cause hardware boosts? Mass Effect came early on in the cycle. There have been many more people get 360s since then that never even played the first one, and i'm sure this will cause a mild bump. Maybe not to the level of UC2, but I bet 30k isn't too unreasonable. |
Sure, game sequels cause a hardware boost but it is always just a small fraction what a new game boosts. Overall (not talking about just 1 week but lifetime boost) ME2 won't probably have even 30% of the hardware boost which ME1 had. Sequels on the same console never boosts sales even half as much as the prequel so, for a sequel, 30% of the original is a very good boost. This also applies all other sequels on the same console including UC2. UC1 hardware boost just happened in a very long time frame but in reality UC1 had much bigger lifetime hardware boost than UC2 (latest sales boost is caused by slim model, not UC2). Most people just notice that 1 week hardware boost which is actually not important.
Sequels on the same console generally have only 1 week of hardware boost and next week sales are down to almost same levels as before. While with first games hardware boost may last for several months. If the first game is actually good of course.
