If you have the 3G version it does, but then the minimum price is $630 plus a monthly charge.
At that point, the iPhone works just as well.
The 3G is actually incredibly worthless on the iPad because in what situation can you think of where you would be in a place you need 3G and it would work better enough to justify the cost? I can't think of one.
- At home -- use wifi
- Cofee Shop -- use wifi
- On the Road -- I would need 3G, but what would I be doing I couldn't use the iPhone just as well?
- Grocery Store Looking Up a Recipe -- This would work, but again, the iPhone works just as well and who would carry the iPad into a grocery store?
Maybe if the iPad came before the iPhone it would be incredble, but the fact it's just a larger much more expensive iPhone (or actually iPod Touch) that's less convenient just makes it not worthwhile at all.

I can see a lot more use for it than that. The added value of the 3G is in the GPS unit. So whilst at home it wouldn't matter so much but in the outside world, you're not always going to be close to a WiFi source. Im not so fussed on the 3G, but the GPS makes it userful.

Again though, what advantage does the iPad GPS have over the iPhone or iPod Touch GPS?
- Walking around a city I don't want to hold an iPad
- Driving in a car, I don't want to hold an iPad
- Being a passanger giving directions is nice, but it's not so much better that it's worth the extra money.
