That's one way to look at it.

Another way to look at it as the kindle with color, sound, video, touch screen, apps, albeit shorter battery life. For not much more money.

The standard Kindle (not the deluxe) is about one half the cost of the base model of the iPad.

I just hope that this thing scares Amazon enough that they'll release a cheaper version of the Kindle.
