I think it will probably start as an optional system. You can download games and they'll be attached to your account. Then they will start giving advantages to people who buy games in this way (maybe free online play, or more likely smaller things like online game saves as Ubi is doing). When enough people are used to this, they will push it for retail games as well. Later on, retail games will disappear altogether (or partly, by having a console SKU with an optical drive, and a cheaper one without).
