First off, compared to the PS2 the PS3 has sold awful in Europe and is a disaster in Japan ... Secondly, this is the EXACT same type of statement that has been made about most PS3 games before they sell at 1/4 the rate of their PS2 counterparts.
Gran Turismo 5 will sell millions of copies, and may break a million units in every region, but I wouldn't expect much more than 6 or 7 Million units sold in its lifetime.
