No, because a patch won't fix the fact that the drive is incapable of doing it.

The drive is capable of playing DVDs.  Homebrew allows the Wii to do it.

I wish more people knew that.

Last year Nintendo realeased a new revision of Wii´s which made it inpossible to play dvd´s even with the homebrew apps but on Wii´s before that revision you can play dvd´s

Interesting.

I wonder how they managed to do that.  Maybe the hackers just haven't figured it out yet?

it disables to read dvd-r discs and only originals work.

Someone with a new wii have to use the USB to play backups.

are you talking games or dvds in general? i know burned movies still work as a friend of mine got a fresh console and the method i mentioned still works.

was it a black wii?

is white. i live in the US.

then its still a wii with the old drive the white wii´s with this new drive just started to show, the first ones were in black wii´s only. It´s Nintendo´s new step to try and stop playing burned games and it doesnt read dvd movies either.

Weve been working with them since they came out and no one has still manged to crack it, it seems to be coded into the hardware and if that turns out to be the case then no one will be bale to break it.
