It's because titanic could still be regarded as the most viewed movie in theaters.. But avatar would be the one to make the most money.
Personally I have wanted titanic to go down for a very, very long time. Good special effects for the time, but I think it's just overrated because it isn't entertaining. It's a great movie in every regard possible, but it just isn't a fun movie to watch. And to me, movies should be entertaining, like avatar was.
