Because they pay no attention to what goes in the PC world and are lagging a few years behind.

Lagging a few years behind? Borderlands and Rage were announced on the same year. iD Tech 5 engine was announced much earlier, but it had no indication of what it would be, we only had a single picture at that time. 

Don't make generalisations like that. 

Yes and the id Tech 4 engine demo was shown a while before before Quake 4 was announced yet everyone knew what the game was.

The difference is that iD Tech 4 engine had a demo showing for the first time. iD Tech 5 engine had a private showing with only one picture of a human face wearing a straw hat that was shown to the general public. If you could make up what game that was from that picture alone, kudos to you.
