Considering it was announced in 2007, Fallout 3 and Borderlands have nothing to do with this. They don't have the emphasis on vehicles that this game is going to have either. Nevermind that it's not an RPG or a lootfest.

It was announced primarily as ID TECH 5 engine showcase, we only know it as Rage from 2008. Gearbox had announced Borderlands back in 2007 as well, and it was set to look like this when it's focus was into more realistic graphics. It doesn't matter if it's not the same genre, the same feeling is there.

No, it was known as Rage from QuakeCon in Aug 2007.

My bad then ;) But when was the iD Tech 5 engine unveiled then? 2006?

I dunno lol.

I was just asking because when they released the info on the engine, they also showed the first pic for what was to become Rage ;) I'm just hoping that iD Software releases some pics of Doom 4, it's supposed to be in development since 2008 >_<

They said at QuakeCon 2009 that they reveal Doom 4 at QuakeCon 2010, so I doubt they will release any screens before that.

You know id has had two dev teams for quite a long time right? So I'd guess Doom 4 has been in development since long before 2008, probably not long after they released Quake 4, whenever that was (in 2006, or even 2005?).

Wait... Quake 4 was developed by Raven right? I wonder what id is doing with their two teams actually!

I'll be watching Quakecon 2010 with the utmost attention then xD

Yep, I think that Doom 4 has been in development far before 2008, but I think that the major stretch of development won't happen until they release Rage. I just hope it's a new vision to the Doom story and not just another re-telling, like Doom 3 was.
