Virtual Fighter with 2 votes and Tekken with 6... this thread makes me sad.

VF5 is the deepest and most well balanced fighter I have ever experienced. It has always been a underrated series, which is a shame.

I have never understood all the love Tekken gets. A poor mans VF in every aspect in my opinion, but to each their own.

To be honest I've never played a Virtua Fighter. I plan to pick up VF5 one of these days.

You can find VF5 for like 20 bucks at any gamestop, totally worth the investment. I have to warn you the learning curve is steep, VF has never been and never will be a pick up and play fighting game. The single player is also pretty average/boring. If you take it online prepare to be dominated until you have figured things out. With all that said the game is so deep and rewarding when you start to master it, worth the effort if fighters are your kind of thing.

I like deep fighters. If you had to compare VF to any other fighter, which would it most resemble?

Hrmm, thats a tough one. As much as VF fan boys like myself hate to admit it I have to say Tekken. Tekken is really the poor mans VF. VF is just better balanced and deeper, it also takes out a lot of the cheap super moves Tekken has. The style isn't as over the top as well.

edit: Listen to the guy above me he said it better. Every character in VF is pretty unique and you are rewarded for playing to its strengths more then any other fighting game. If you like that then you will like VF.
