1. The 3D had numerous areas where it was 'out of the screen' and Mine was clear/crisp throughout, both times I went to see it.

2. That image is freakin hilarious and just proves my other arguement about how Avatar was more beleive since we as a race have done it numerous times.

hmm. maybe the cinema I went to has shit 3D technologySadly it is the only cinema here iwht 3D capability.

To me the side of the image were blury. like the middle action as awesome but if you tried to focus on the side of the screen it was still blurred. I wonder if its to do with the lense they played it with or very shit cheap glasses.

do you rememebr which parts come out at you? From memory the only thing that sorta come out was the brown dust particles falling. That was about it but they did not come out far like the demo before the movie of this ball floating around the cinema.

was it only animated parts that come out or real parts of people etc??

feel free to PM me if you dont want to put spoilers in this thread.

I hear you.  I had the same comment coming out of the movie too.  Whatever I was focused on was clear, but the rest was a bit blurry.  If I shifted my gaze, I had to refocus on it.  I had a headache as result.  My girlfriend felt it worse.  Her eyes were watering and sore by the end of the movie.

As for what jumped out at me?  There were a few moments involving insects, when it felt like they were right beside me.  The surround sound helped to create the effect.

RE: the blurry, I bet that is just how the 3D affets you. While not common, I have read where many people dislike the 3D tech for this reason.

RE: 3D coming out..

You already mentioned the 'fire' scene with brown particles, but there is also a few other areas from dust, debris, fire, etc. Basically where it makes sense to have it. Its not like the 80's 3D where movies stick stuff out at you for now apparent reason. Its supposed to be realistic not superficial. So, the real imagery is the 3D environment itself, i.e. people actually walking behind full deminsional items, fully 3D spherical screens, really holographic looking displays of maps, etc.

Maybe you're just setting different expectations, but what I think you're describing is what I would call the old school gimmicky 3D and not the realism that is portrayed in Avatar and other newer 3D movies.
