If you're talking about beating it on the fastest speed with the blocks starting as high as they can, yeah. I beat it tons of times. So did my mom, aunt, cousins, and step brother.

Well, how about not on level 9, height 5, but height 5 on level heart-9? (Hold the down arrow at the title screen, for those who've forgotten how.)
As for "beating" it, nope, can't be done. I've not even made it to the level where Nintendo says that it stops speeding up. (Level 22, for those who are curious.) On the NES, I can get about 192 lines on a good day, and on the GB, I've hit 213. But damned if I don't think I can still improve! (I REALLY want to break 200 on the NES...) |
You're talking about the "heart levels". Nope! I tried that once. It was pretty much: Press start. Game over. |
They're not that bad; the heart is basically +10 levels, just like holding A on the NES. (The NES is also where I've tried higher than 9-5, I've cleared height 5 on level 11 there.) I like the split-second decision that the heart levels make you do... even if my game still does end sooner! (Though if I'm playing a straight A-type game, I always start on level 9.)
