I've always liked IGN. Frequented it often. However the staff there have never - ever, been half as professional or important as they think they are. They are not journalists. I doubt a single one of them ever attended a Journalism course. They are fanboys, through and through, albeit a more professional breed of fanboys than most other sites.

Other than their annoying podcasts it's never bothered me much, except for the last few months where they have really jumped the shark and lost touch with their Wii audience. Nintendo has gone somewhere they can't follow and they hate it, they hate that it's changing the name of the game, they hate the Wii fans for allowing it and they don't and don't want to understand.

I feel their pain though. I do. For these guys are not journalists that report the news with a worldly indifference and a smile. They are fanboys. And they hate the direction all sides of the industry are going and for all their self-importance there's not a damn thing they can do about it except whine and bitch and complain - and I'm sick of it.

Report the news IGN. Do your reviews IGN. And be professional for once or fade away into obscurity.
