IGN isn't disliked because of their low scores to games we like.

IGN is disliked because of their constant trolling for getting hits. I mean you had the Nintendo podcast dedicated entirely to trolling Nintendo fans. They don't even bother to hide it. Harris even admitted they do that only for hits.

IMO they should hire some professionals who are actually excited about covering gaming news.

That's the real point. I think IGN's reviews are reasonably well done. However, their editorials, in an attempt to be provocative, became presumptuous. They like to claim to know better how to do this or that and, even worse, they criticize their readers, i.e., Nintendo fans, for not knowing what's good to them. In the last two months, they went beyond criticizing the Wii gamers to a point of almost insulting them. I am not sure what they expect to achieve with that, but I seldom check the site anymore.

In any case, IGN's text is not that well written. Considering only the big sites, I believe Gamespot have a superior written text and their reviews follow a better structure, even if its credibility is tainted since the Kane & Lynch episode.
