The chart I built was my own conconction.
My points of data for reference on my chart was:
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_gun_ownership (Y1)
- http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita (Y2)
- I correlated countries that only met criteria for having available data for Y1 and Y2 sources. Therefore, we had to know firearm ownership per capita plus murders per capita.
The second chart uses (as stated in the chart) BATE firearm ownership estimates and the NCV survey for violent crimes. I can pull up more references for those if you like..
