binary solo said: One thing Mark Rein doesn't say (at least he hasn't been quoted as such) is that Epic have no interest or intention to develop for PS3. If they are 360 only developers out of free choice then I wish they'd be as up front about it as Valve, though perhaps not mouth off at PS3 quite as much as Valve. "We're not doing / don't do PS3 games." Is that so hard to say? |
I don't that's Epic's position, though. They have put in effort to make sure U3 supports PS3 as well as 360 and have developed for PS3 with UT3.
However, whether they looked for a backer and MS said 'we will' or whether MS approached them and said 'would you', they ended up also being commissioned to produce a 360 exclusive title. That title was a huge hit and so they produced a sequel.
I don't see them having an issue with PS3, just that currently their own projects have been around 360.
Personally I think UT3 on PS3 was a missed opportunity for Sony they should have got more behind. UT3 on PS3 can have mods, on 360 it can't. Epic historically have been good at backing mods, etc. and it's a point of differentation. Sony should have put money behind advertising this and making sure their would be some great mods, instead of barely backing the game and just letting it release and hoping some gamers actually decided to create some mods.
Valve are a different story, but I think it's just circumstance that has Epic seeming to be behind 360. I can easily imagine them support PS3 in future, particularly now the install base has grown enough that it can support big sales of western AAA titles.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
