Tatsu no-go for PS3 and 360
Producer says fighting game is Wii exclusive.
January 21, 2010 - Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners holding their collective breath waiting for Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars to go multiplatform are going to turn very blue.
Ryota Niitsuma, producer for the over the top fighting game on the Nintendo Wii, confirmed that there are no plans to bring the game to other consoles.
"[Tatsunoko vs Capcom] was designed to fully exploit the capabilities of the Wii. It was designed solely around the Wii," Niitsuma explained. "So to transer the game to the other two systems would require starting from scratch."
Of course no plans doesn't mean never.
"If enough fans say, 'We want this on PS3 and 360,' we might do that," Niitsuma said. "It was because of the fans we were able to bring this game to the states in the first place."
Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a return to the popular Versus series of fighting games from Capcom. Companies like SNK and Marvel have teamed with Capcom in the past. Depending on how well Ultimate All Stars does in sales, games may be seeing more teamup games in the future.
"Hopefully the fan reaction is good. If we have good sales hopefully we can think about more games in the Versus series. Personally speaking I would like to do more. I love the series."
Niitsuma has ideas for what he wants to do next with the series.
"If possible I would mind seeing a sequel to [Marvel vs Capcom 2]. Of course it would probably be a whole new type of game if we did that."
He also hinted at wanting to work outside of the normal group of iconic Japanese developers.
"There are a lot of American game developers I wouldn't mind working with and being able to combine Capcom characters with them."
So maybe fans should be demanding a "Sony/Microsoft vs Capcom" game.
