I love the first one to bits, bought it right when it came out, but full price turns me off a great deal. I'll pick it up eventually when it drops, I've got a lot to do still in the first one.

The price doesn't turn me off at all. It is clear that the first game was something of an experiment and was priced accordingly (and still some people complained , saying that BECAUSE of the price it must be shovelware - there is no pleasing some).

For me, Endless Ocean represents the best value for money I have ever got out of a game. Even measuring objectively in money per hour it is way ahead of anything else, and it would still be if it had been full price. Heck, it would still have been my best ever value game ifI had bought a Wii specially to play it on.

There is no way I'll begrudge them a fair return for all the work that has clearly been put in for what is - whatever happens - still going to be a niche title.

800+ hours is astonishing. I only put in about 30 and thought I got a lot of value out of it. My highest played is Zelda at like 90 hours which is split between me and my brother. The bigger problem though is that I bought a PS2 at the end of the summer and a PS3 a month ago. I've got too many games to play and not enough time so there's no justification for me to pay $50 for it. (Thankfully it's only $30, and I ended up preordering because of the wii speak deal, couldn't resist at that price). I wish I was younger and games could keep my attention like they once did. I'd love to see the amount of time we spent playing goldeneye and mario kart 64 back in the day. It would be quite high up there too. At 800 hours though I imagine you know Manoa Lai like the back of your hand :)
