In an interview with Silicon Knights conducted by GameIndustry.biz revealed that the company thinks we are headed towards a single console industry. The interview is with Denis Dyack and it talks about the future of the industry.

The interview reveals that at least Silicon views the console industry and console wars as pointless and a waist of money. He said having three platforms was difficult for developers and certain companies depend on different things for their profits.  For Nintendo Silicon Knights says they rely soully on software sales for all of their profits!

Silicon Knights predicts the console wars ending very soon with a universal console. A console that everyone would support.  He talks about how it will be much like the film industry in which all the different manufacturers support the same platform and all the film makers support the same platform!

Is it possible, A single platform for all of the companies? Could all the companies survive on a single platform with Sony relying heavily on hardware sales , Nintendo on software sales and Microsoft  just not that profitable is it possible.

What do you think is it even plausable for the games industry to eventually be limited to a single console or will the console wars go on!
