I think this is going to be bigger than some people on here seem to think. 3D is very popular at the minute as cinema releases have proven. It is already receiving huge backing from electronics manufacturers and hollywood studies and now broadcasters and game developers are following suite. It is being adopted by industry far quicker than HD was and I expect adoption rates in the home will also likely be faster than they were for HD. After all, this isn't just a resolution upgrade which some people 'claim' they can't see it's a completely new feature in home entertainment. I think Sony are really going to push this as it could become a great selling point for the PS3 and extend it's lifespan (as Natal should for the 360).

I disagree totally.  There is a significant added expense to all of this so soon after Hd adoption, new Tv and some expensive glasses.

Hell most people have HD TV's and dont even have the ability to watch HD content yet!!  I have SkyHD and Bluray but they are both very very far from mass market right now.

PS... your lot cheated calling off that game against my team... it was playable

The reason why there still a lot of people with TVHD without HD signal is because they dont care about HD. They purchase their new TV because it was slim and sleek. There a much bigger difference between 2D/3D than 480/720 signal. It will probably show in the speed of adoption rate. Future will tell us, but im pretty sure that as soon as it is affordable for the mass market (in 2-3 years) the shift to 3D will be fatser than the one to HD only.
